Preparations

Step 1: Preparing for Light

After finishing your painting it's time to make up that extra light. The easiest way to do this is to remove any excess paint and go to the dark. Next, mix your new red paint with some extra green paint – this is the same method used at paint removers. We'll now set aside all the excess paint that's left of the dark to use for the background. In any case you would then need to mix some of that excess paint to your paints – this is where a neutral light color comes into play. Apply several more coats of oil in a big wash before starting with the finished paint. When you're satisfied with your painting it's time to move on to the next step. Apply some fresh water and water thinner for good measure. This will help with water buildup and allows for some good clean up before painting. After
