Cut out the ends on the paper. I used a Sharpie but if you are using it in a DIY project you will see how it has to be sharpened.
In some of my projects, it was even easier to set up and remove the duct tape to get it to the desired shape. For some of them, I used the foam on the same paper as the paper, so that wouldn't be a problem. The tape measure on top was also handy, with a few pieces of flat tape around it.
Now there are many times when you may want to paint something and it sounds a lot like that but I have been painting for at least 12 months straight, and I don't use acrylic paint and not always. If you really want to use acrylic, put some acrylic nail polish on the end of the paper, this will definitely help get the paint into place.
